Hair loss, dandruff and premature graying of hair have become extremely common in men and women of all ages. Due to several factors such as weather, hard water, or lack of proper hair care routine, a large number of people suffer from hair problems.

While many people resort to expensive hair care products to deal with these issues, few also rely on advice that has become more and more common these days. But how effective are they?

Dermatologist Dr Jushya Bhatia Sarin recently took to Instagram to give four such popular hair care tips we commonly hear. Looked.

These are the four commonly accepted hair care tips that aren’t really helpful for your hair, according to Dr. Sarin.

* Castor oil for hair growth

In the absence of scientific evidence to prove it, it’s best to take any glowing testimony with a grain of salt. There is nothing wrong with castor oil, but it won’t necessarily benefit you either.

“I hope you don’t miss any medically relevant causes of hair loss,” added the dermatologist.

* Onion juice for hair growth

Onion juice contains sulfur which is used to treat alopecia areata, an autoimmune form of hair loss, not all other types of hair loss.

* Trim hair for faster growth

Hair growth comes from the roots of your scalp, not the ends. Cutting your hair will only make it look duller and sharper.

* Depilation of gray hair increases it

Hair turns gray or white when pigment cells in hair follicles stop producing melanin. Therefore, plucking gray hairs will not increase their number. You only feel that they are increasing in number because they are increasing naturally, not because of the picking.
