Full Street Fighter 6 launch slate appears to have leaked

We’re straight out of a very impressive presentation by Capcom during yesterday’s Sony State of Play presentation, where the company unveiled a massive flurry of information about Street Fighter 6. Not only were new characters introduced, but we were treated to real-life gameplay, mechanical breakdowns, a preview of the adventure-style 1-player mode, and an exit window.

Sadly, above all else, it looks like fans can’t seem to stop talking about a potential leak that emerged last night. It looks like the full Street Fighter 6 launch slate went live prematurely.

A series of concept artworks have surfaced that show off a full set of 22 fighters for Street Fighter 6. From what we’ve officially seen of Street Fighter 6 so far, these artworks are very convincing and seem very much in the style of the upcoming game.

We don’t know exactly where these potential leaks came from, and it seems no one has really been able to find a source. Still, the content of this work seems to align very closely with what we’ve seen and heard about the title so far.

The leaked images include a preview of 14 legacy characters who are set to return, as well as 8 newcomers (including Luke). If these images are to be believed, there are some very interesting choices included here.

Before we get into the specific lineup, I want to point out that all of the returning characters sport a new design that definitely seems to match Ryu and Chun-Li’s now older look. Even the clothing style matches well with what Ryu and Chun are wearing these days, which adds more credibility to the whole thing.

As for the returning characters, we see the following: Ryu, Ken, Zangief, Dhalsim, E. Honda, Blanka, Guile, Chun-Li, Cammy, Dee Jay, Rashid, Juri, Ed, and Akuma.

Cammy’s design is a bit different from what we’re used to as she now has a short hairstyle and wears pants. Dee Jay also comes with a completely updated look that includes a little jacket and big hair.

Other than Juri, however, there don’t appear to be any characters from Street Fighter 3, Street Fighter 4, or the Street Fighter Alpha series, which is certainly peculiar. I can’t help but wonder if they’ll be saved for themed DLC in the future.

Even more interestingly, this leak even includes the names of all the characters. The newcomers we see in this list are: Luke, Marisa, Jamie, Mimi, Lily, JP, Kimberly and AKI

Obviously, we’ve seen Luke and Jamie before, and the initial gameplay trailer sneakily revealed Kimberly at the very end of the showcase. However, everyone shown here is brand new.

Starting with Marisa, we see a very tall, very muscular fighter with red hair and a bob style. This world warrior can actually be seen on one of the Metro City commercials at the very start of the new gameplay trailer.

Mimi is a French fighter who has pink hair and wears a karate gi over a blue and black bodysuit. Lily, on the other hand, is from Mexico and wields a club in each hand, potentially having a relationship with T. Hawk (based on her appearance).

JP is next, and this tall fighter appears to be an old man with long white hair and a beard who wears a vest, pants, cape, and walks around with a cane. Next, we have a better shot of Kimberly, who we now see with several chunky hanging braids and also appears to be listening to a cassette player.

The last character presented is called AKI and comes from China. Based on his hand claws, robe, and place of origin, we believe this may be FANG’s Phantom Apprentice that we talked about in a previous article.

Now that the cat may be out of the bag here, it’s possible Capcom could move some things around and tweak the launch slate to throw internet sleuths out of the scent. However, for now, this seems like the real deal, and if so, we’re now looking at who will be playable on launch day.
