Robert Downey Jr. may have left the world of Marvel since Tony Stark’s death in Avengers: Endgame, but the actor debuted his heroic new blue hairstyle on his social media accounts, which took the star viral. Downey Jr. is said to be returning to another of his well-known franchises, sherlock holmesbut it’s clear that his new hairstyle has nothing to do with that upcoming role as Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective and seems to be the actor in casual family mode, which no one can blame him for.
In a post to his Twitter and Instagram accounts, Downey Jr. and his wife Susan celebrated their son’s Little League baseball team in a short video, during which the Dr. Doolittle the actor turned the camera on himself, showing off a very short, very blue hairstyle. This was followed by a photo of the couple together, giving a better look at the style reminiscent of some of Downey Jr.’s older looks, but this is the first time he’s decided to go so colorful.
In the post, Downey Jr. commented, “Congratulations are in order for the 2022 Malibu Little League AAA Champions. Many thanks to Coach Alfano, Coach Sullivan and Coach Mark. The Dodgers brought the heat!!!” Of course, it didn’t take long for fans to switch gears completely to give their thoughts on her new look, and most of them seemed to be okay with the blue.
Sherlock Holmes 3 is in development, with a universe to follow
It’s been over a decade since Robert Downey Jr. played Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective, and obviously during that time he’s become better known as the founding father of the MCU and the Avengers, but with that role behind him, Downey Jr. clearly has plans not only to bring a new sequel to his version of sherlock holmes, but extend it into its own universe. He previously said:
“At this point, we really feel like there’s no mystery verse built anywhere, and Conan Doyle is the definitive voice in that, I think, to this day. So to me, why do a third film if you’re not going to be able to transform into real gems of diversity and other times and elements?
The shared universe around the character is being developed under the Team Downey production banner that the actor and his wife formed, and Susan was quick to recognize that now might be the time for the project to move forward thanks to the boom from HBO Max. She added:
“We think there’s an opportunity to develop it further. Spin-off characters from a third movie, to see what’s happening in the television landscape, to see what Warner Media is starting to build, things with HBO and HBO Max. I think the decade of tutoring and watching, what we both got to have with Marvel, watching them grow and seeing all the opportunities, was invaluable. It was like a class of master “
